About
Who I am
Hi, I’m Cat — a former teacher who’s taught in three different countries- the UK to the United Arab Emirates, and now here in beautiful New Zealand.

For years, teaching was my identity. I didn't know what else I could do and what I even enjoyed doing. I loved connecting with students, creating lessons, and watching lightbulb moments happen. But over time, I began to feel the familiar signs of burnout — the exhaustion, the endless workload, and the quiet thought that maybe it was time for something different...

I realised that stepping away from teaching didn’t mean I was giving up — it meant I was growing. Like many teachers, I had poured everything into the profession, and I knew it was time to start pouring some of that energy into building a life and career that fit the next version of me.

That’s why I started Leave Teaching — to share honest advice, practical tools, and real stories that help teachers like you transition out of the classroom with confidence. Whether you’re dreaming of a remote role, a career change, or simply a better work-life balance, I want to show you that it’s possible — and worth it.
